The New Continental GT Speed: A Masterpiece of Engineering and Luxury

Jul. 1st, 2024

Bentley’s new Continental GT Speed represents a comprehensive redesign inside and out, aligning with the modern design DNA introduced by the coachbuilt Bentley Bacalar and Batur. This iteration boasts a striking exterior and interior with clean, modern detailing that underscores Bentley’s commitment to luxury and performance.

Powertrain and Performance

At the heart of the new Continental GT is an all-new Ultra Performance Hybrid powertrain. This system combines a 4.0-liter V8 engine with a 190 PS electric motor, producing a combined 782 PS and 1,000 Nm of torque. The result is a supercar capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds. Additionally, it offers an impressive electric-only range of 50 miles (81 km) on the EU drive cycle and a total range of 534 miles (859 km), making it a practical everyday supercar.

Chassis and Handling

The exceptional performance of the powertrain is complemented by a newly engineered chassis system. The vehicle features advanced two-chamber air springs paired with dual-valve dampers, Bentley Dynamic Ride (a 48V active anti-roll control system), eLSD, and torque vectoring. This setup ensures remarkable body control and delivers the best ride comfort ever experienced in a Continental GT. For the first time in the car’s history, it also boasts a 49:51 rear-biased weight distribution.

Cutting-Edge Technology

Beneath its luxurious exterior, the new Continental GT incorporates a suite of innovative technologies that provide class-leading capabilities. This includes advanced driver assistance systems, state-of-the-art infotainment, and comprehensive connected car services, all designed to ensure a seamless driving experience.

Design Evolution

The new exterior design marks a significant evolution for Bentley, featuring the most substantial revision to the Continental GT’s face in two decades. Notably, it is the first mainstream Bentley since the 1950s to feature single headlamps, symbolizing a bold step forward in Bentley’s design journey.

Interior Luxury

Inside, Bentley’s world-renowned craftsmanship continues to shine. The interior showcases top-tier materials, quality, and craftsmanship, along with new wellness seat technology, air ionisation, three-dimensional leather textures, modern quilting, and technical finishes like dark chrome.

Advanced Electrical Architecture

A completely new 400-volt electrical architecture supports the most advanced powertrain technology available from a luxury automotive brand today. This system enables the car to achieve emissions of just 29 g/km of CO2 and offers an electric range of 50 miles (81 km) on the WLTP drive cycle.

Coupe and Convertible Options

For the first time in the history of the Continental GT, the convertible Continental GTC is being launched simultaneously with the coupe, offering customers the ultimate flexibility to enjoy both open-topped and closed-roof driving experiences.

Handcrafted Excellence

Both the coupe and convertible models of the new Continental GT will be crafted entirely by hand at Bentley’s Dream Factory in Crewe, England. Production and deliveries are scheduled to begin in the third quarter of this year, marking a new chapter in Bentley’s storied history of automotive excellence.
